RADAR în Comunitate — Mântuleasa Edition
RADAR în Comunitate brings new media art closer to the public, outside conventional cultural venues. For the Mântuleasa Edition, a selection of experiences from the RADAR ecosystem comes straight into the neighbourhood: art and technology installations, local and international artists, interactive activities, street art workshops and workshops for children and adults. Choosing Mântuleasa puts these contemporary experiences in dialogue with the history, architecture and everyday life of a neighbourhood with a strong identity.
Saturday and Sunday, 19:00–22:00 · free entry
-
Cloud Memory
Guillaume Marmin · FranceA light and sound sculpture inspired by clouds and organic structures. The work explores how memory is increasingly migrating from the biological to the digital, and questions where we keep our memories and information today.
-
Array
Steven Mark Kübler · AustriaAn installation in which light projected through layers of mesh transforms the space according to the viewer’s movement and perspective. The visitor’s shadow and body become part of the experience.
-
Sonolume
Loomaland · GermanyAn experience inspired by synaesthesia: visitors are invited to play the piano, and each note activates the installation’s light and colour, turning music into a visual and physical experience.
-
OPINIONS
mots · Romania/GermanyAn interactive AI-based installation that analyses visitors and gives them instant first impressions. The work questions how we assign value to automated opinions and snap judgements.
Workshops and participatory experiences
-
Robotics workshop
Coding Hub
Children discover technology through play, building and experimenting: they build, test and program robots, starting from age-appropriate challenges.
-
Street art workshop
Alex Baciu
A hands-on workshop on the process behind urban art — from idea and composition to colour, technique and execution — in which participants can experiment and contribute directly to the creative process.
The Coding Hub workshops and Alex Baciu’s workshop are part of the RADAR în Comunitate programme.
Also, on both days
Grădina Mântuleasa — an autumn must tavern and the taste of old Bucharest
Throughout the two days, Grădina Mântuleasa complements the event programme with a food experience inspired by Bucharest’s tradition of autumn must taverns. Fresh must, grilled dishes, pastrami, saramură and other seasonal flavours bring back the convivial atmosphere of the city’s old gardens and meeting places.
In an intimate green space right on Mântuleasa Street, food becomes another way of exploring the neighbourhood’s memory — through the tastes, smells and urban rituals that were part of life in old Bucharest. Grădina Mântuleasa is still a place where the neighbourhood meets and socialises today, which makes it a natural extension of the Deschidem Mântuleasa programme.
Also, on both days
Beans&Dots Mântuleasa — speciality coffee
Beans&Dots Coffee Shop is one of the leaders in speciality coffee and the sole distributor in Romania of The Barn Coffee Roasters Berlin. It has two coffee shops in Bucharest: one on the mezzanine of the Universul Palace and, the newest, in Mântuleasa, in the former Suprainfinit art gallery. Every year, Beans&Dots brings more than 100 single-origin coffees to Romania, many from The Barn’s exclusive farms.
Over the event weekend: filter coffee tastings on both days and, on Saturday, the launch of the Brodēon fragrances and a day party with Skank Sinatra. Free entry.
Opening hours: Saturday 09:00–20:00 · Sunday 09:00–18:00
